Gta 4 driving patch

Since the game runs very poorly even on today's rigs, my fps is never really at that cap and always in g-sync range without any input lag. At least we can do that. Never mind I spoke too soon. It randomly comes and goes.

This is beyond annoying. I wish I could figure out what the true cause is so it could just go away. I was playing with g-sync just fine, low input lag and no tearing or stuttering as fps fluctuated. Now I go back to play after eating and watching a movie and it is doing the fps spike stutter again.

I have definitively made a connection here with the unplayable stuttering bug and g-sync in GTA 4. It is the input device. If you play with keyboard and mouse, the game runs fine. There are frame pacing issues that are consistent with the game itself, but no horrible stuttering. The second you enable a controller and start playing with that, the bug re-appears.

I reproduced this several times, and even had a launch where I started with a DS4 in use, got the stuttering, alt tabbed and closed DS4Windows thereby disabling the controller, alt tabbed back in and started playing with keyboard and mouse and the stuttering never returned. The remaining question is why would g-sync be affected by input device on this particular game? I wonder if it is similar to the F. But the answer is clear, there is a definite relationship issue with this game, g-sync and input devices.

At least now we know we can play with g-sync we just have to use keyboard and mouse. Final update to this topic: This is a Steam issue. If you launch it via exe file, it works with g-sync. So, I haven't played it for a while, but installed it yesterday, and I noticed that for some reason Windows 10 updates? New drivers? It doesn't really work that well even when you turn off g-sync. So I checked this thread, to find any clue on what I might be doing wrong this time, and I saw your comment.

No, it actually doesn't work perfectly with G-sync like other titles, but this heavy stuttering when you start playing is gone. Variable frame rate gives the same results normal v-sync would give. For the sake of experiment I locked my fps at 30 with g-sync enabled, and it still wasn't smooth. The thing that gives the best results and I mean no stuttering at all for me right now is capping fps at 33 don't ask, I don't know why this works You have to work at it. I do get why Rockstar changed the driving in GTA 5.

It's a fun, vibrant, sunshine-soaked game, and it would detract from that vibe if you had to drive sludgy, realistic cars through Los Santos. But it fits GTA 4's muted, gritty realism perfectly.

Liberty City is an unpleasant place, smeared in a tangible layer of grime and danger—which the physics-driven car handling taps into.

As you torment the vehicles you drive by slinging them recklessly around corners, through scenery, and into other motorists, they get dirty, scratched, dented, and generally dinged up. It's a messy, chaotic city, and these bouncy, filthy cars add to the disorder.

It's currently only playable on a very limited range of systems, and often in compromised or outdated form. If Rockstar does bring it back in some way, I just pray the driving remains exactly the same.

It's a part of the game's identity, and it just wouldn't be the same without it. If Grand Theft Auto 6 is a return to a grittier, more grounded setting, I'd like to see Rockstar experiment with a realistic, physics-based handling model again.

OpenGL v4. So there you have it - test for yourself and choose whatever fits your configuration. Feel free to share your experiences with different methods and your specs in comments below. It is not the main culprit as even the most low-end GPU e. Of couse these GPUs have different number of shader units and different architecture, but nevertheless underutilization of CPU cores on older driver exists. It is confirmed , that older driver that was developed for earlier Windows build may not perform as well on newer Windows build, and newest driver that was developed for latest Windows build may not perform as well on earlier Windows build.

So you should try your luck with latest beta drivers for your specific Windows build. ExtendVidMem module dinput8. By default the game allocates VRAM and loads textures as needed. It results in lags that are due to world loading when Niko walks out from safehouse hall to the street, VRAM usage immediately goes up. No, there is no fix for the camera problem. Even after 5 patches, the bug still remains. Unfortunately, as others said, you have to get used to it.

They intended the camera to be independent from the driving. Like I said, there are several missions which involve shooting while driving and this is why they have made driving and camera independent. First Person Mod Hey man, this may not be the best solution and it ain't like a 3rd person view.

But there's a mod called the first person mod, which allows you to view the GTA IV world, as if you were viewing it from Niko's eyes. Somehow the mod places the camera where Niko's eyes are.

Just search gtaforums. GTA IV is my favorite game. Hope you have a blast playing it. Cheers mate! Oh yeah.. I would also recommend the first person mod. Makes the game even more awesome. Oh yeah, and one last thing to help you solve this issue once and for all, when the car camera goes too much out of whack, you can always press Q or E for a split second, and this helps to position it back into it's default central position.
